Nicolas Debon

Nicolas Debon was born in 1968 in Lorraine, France. He studied at the Fine Arts School of Nancy before doing a series of jobs in the field of cultural administration. In 1993, he moved to Canada for 10 years and became a stained glass designer. During this decade, he developed an interest for the illustration of children's books. His early work was released by a North American publisher and quickly became successful. He won the Boston Globe–Horn Book Award in 2007, one of the most prestigious prizes in children's literature. Debon is now back in Paris, where he focuses on children's illustration and comics. Since 2009, he has released 3 comics with Dargaud. The most recent of which is "L'Essai" (Dargaud, 2015; Europe Comics, 2020). Debon is admired for the extreme sensitivity in his work and his impressive mastery of drawing and colors.
